What is it about contests?

I really like submitting to illustration contests, I've decided. Whether it be Imaginary Friends Studio's wonderful Pepper Project or the new Square-Enix The World Ends With You concept contest, they're pretty great. Sure, there's a chance at major international exposure, but the chances are pretty slim. Really, though, it's worth submitting just because it's an excuse to draw, to use those art muscles. I'm embarking on a major journey of artistic discovery and self-improvement these days, and any reason to draw, learn, grow and have fun is a welcome one.

So speaking of my artistic journey, one of my goals along the way is to draw and/or paint every day. A lot of these things are little speedpaints and crappy doodles that never see the light of day on dA. But they do get uploaded to the internets. Most regularly to my sketchbook on Conceptart.org. Kiriban at 12,000

I've noticed that my profile is inching ever closer towards the 12,000 pageviews mark. And so, I'm offering up a kiriban to whoever gets closest to that nice round number, and pipes up for a gift art. Just another excuse to draw!
